Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership programs such as Interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and Rotary Youth Exchange.

Interact

In 1960, RI President Harold T. Thomas urged Rotary clubs around the world to find ways to encourage service among youth, foster their active interest in the community, and offer opportunities for them to develop as leaders. Two years later, 23 students at Melbourne High School in Melbourne, Florida, USA, came together to form the first Interact club.

Ever since, Rotarians are helping and empowering the youth to serve their local and international communities along with their Rotary club sponsors. Thousands of communities around the world are benefiting from the service of Interact clubs. Interactors are discovering a program that offers fun, beneficial service projects, leadership development skills, and new friends. Sponsor Rotary clubs are gaining increased support for their own service projects and helping to develop future Rotarians,

At the start of the new Rotary Year 2016-2017 the Rotary Club of Greater Chino Hills decided to sponsor an Interact club at the Ruben Ayala High School, Chino Hills, California, USA. At an informational meeting on Wednesday, August 28, the Rotary club invited several Ayala High School students to meet the club Rotarians and to introduce and explain the Interact program. Assistant District Governor Bob Spence gave a general idea of the Interact's history and the Rotary's history and commitment to young people, and explained the policies and goals of Interact. Interactors from the Montclair High School, Montclair, California, USA and their Interact Club Facilitator Jackie Albay spoke about their club's service projects.
